Welcome!

I'm José and I grew up in Atlixco. When I was 6 years old, my parents moved to Mexico City to start their own school. As a teenager I spent a lot of time helping around the school. I went to the university and graduated as an engineer, but I decided to keep working at my parents' school. I care about providing children the best possibilities and reassuring them a great future.

I'm Maaike and I'm from Belgium. As a small child I already knew I wanted to be a kindergarten teacher. Once I graduated, I landed my first teaching job in a Freinetschool in a Belgian town and immediately knew these are the pedagogic principles I believe in. I love to discover the world with the children, be amazed and help them grow into the person they become.

We met in Oaxaca and have been together since. One of the subjects we connected on is education.
Quickly grew the idea to start our own school. Jose knows the ins and outs of running a school. As a kindergarten teacher, Maaike has experience in working with the interests of the children and thus offering a rich educational environment.
We consciously chose to start a Freinetschool, with Montessori influences.

Like Célestin Freinet, we truly believe children learn by doing, especially when their motivation comes from within. Together with the child, we search for their interests, talents and possibilities to grow. We focus on skills, values and the child as a whole. Educational content is exercised in practical and useful activities.

The Montessori educational materials and the way they are introduced, are a great added value. This gives children the chance to learn in a tactically, visually and auditory way.

We start with a preschool and hope to add a primary school in a couple of years.
